Mostly, traditional publishers are seen to follow up the procedure of printing the books in bulk (1000+ copies). This is only the reason why they charge heavy fees (in range of lakhs) to debut writers and authors. To overcome this restriction OrangeBooks Publication adopts Print on Demand (PoD) technique. In PoD, your book is kept with OrangeBooks Publication and copies are printed only on demand and this enables OrangeBooks Publication to even publish a single copy at a time and in this way no cost burden of printing comes in the way of book publishing.

As stated that the book is available on PoD, therefore there is a production cost associated with each book. Apart from Production cost there is a margin associated with distribution share, thus the cost that is required to produce a single copy at a time and to make it available for selling across distribution network, while giving the optimum royalty to authors, is known as its Minimum Selling Price (MSP). Since, A5 books (5″x8″) come in convenient and handy, moreover, it is also cost efficient in production, we recommend it. However for academic and research publications having number of pages more than 100, A4 (6″x9″ or 8″x11″) is preferred. The Print on Demand (PoD) Prices are higher because they are printed by digital printers, we can have an average idea of cost of digital printing by the fact that, a Xerox/ photocopy costs Rs.1-2 per page, so the PoD books.

The author can choose any price for their book, but it must meet the Minimum Pricing criteria set by the Publisher to be sold through official channels. This ensures that the price covers the production cost. The Minimum Pricing may change based on market conditions, and OrangeBooks will let the author know if any adjustments are needed.

Here's how royalties work:

For sales on Amazon, Flipkart, and other paperback channels (in India):
Author's Royalty = MRP - 50% of MRP - Printing Cost.

For sales on WissenBook Store (Paperback in India):
Author's Royalty = MRP - 15% - Printing Cost.

For Playstore ebooks:
Author's Royalty is 50%.

Royalties higher than ₹500/- are paid to authors on request by the end of the month. The royalty is paid by UPI or NEFT to the author’s Indian bank account only.

100% Royalty is provided to author on all International print orders and eBook Sales. The concerned details of same are updated on author dashboard. The International print copies and eBook sales are reflected in second week of next month of the sale. We are unable to quote exact royalty from such sales on site because it varies from book to book and genre to genre. Once, the book is finalized, all pricing and royalty details are updated to authors’ dashboards.

Authors are allowed to order additional copies of their book at an ease from their dashboard at its production cost. Taxes and Shipping cost is additional. The minimum quantity of such orders is 30 books. (Ordering copies lower than 30 are also allowed by paying small additional processing charges) The production of PoD books take 5-7 working days + Shipping time, so kindly manage to place your order at an early note, if you want to meet any deadline. Shipping is done by standard courier partners.
